About

About
I wasn’t exactly sure what area of law I wanted to focus on for my career after I graduated from law school. But like most other newly “minted” attorneys, I wanted to start practicing right away. A position in family law happened to be available right after I graduated, and it was the perfect fit. I have practiced family law since April 2010. While I may have started practicing family law simply because it was what was available after law school, I have continued for many other reasons.
First and foremost, family law allows me pursue my passion of connecting with people who need help during difficult times. No other area of the law allows me to assist clients on such a personal and emotional level. I also enjoy the process of litigation, from the initial client meeting through to trial. I work hard to be a champion for my clients through what can seem like a daunting and overwhelming undertaking. I have enjoyed practicing family law from the beginning and cannot imagine practicing any other type of law.
Why Choose Christopher Hicks
After graduating from law school, Chris joined a small firm in Harnett County, a smaller, more rural area south of Raleigh. During that time, his practice focused on family law, but also involved criminal defense, civil litigation, competency proceedings, juvenile defense, veteran’s treatment courts and cases against the Department of Social Services. With this broad range of experience, Chris has been exposed to most issues that clients are experiencing. More importantly, he has helped people going through all types of crises, whether it’s divorce, death, addiction or mental illness. Through everything, Chris never forgets that his clients are people first–all different, with different strengths, weaknesses and needs. He strives to treat every client in the individual, personal manner so they have the tools and support they need to get through difficult times in as positive of a way as possible.
Chris is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Benson. After attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he double-majored in Political Science and Communications, Chris graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law. Away from the office, Chris spends his free time with his wife and daughter, visiting Raleigh-Durham’s museums, restaurants and parks. He also enjoys golf, basketball and fishing.
