Practice area:

I founded my firm in 2010 based on the philosophy of providing clients with a dynamic, strategic approach--rooted in my more than 25 years experience in the media, crisis communications and strategy. We are experienced senior practitioners who understand the legacy and new media worlds and how they drive public opinion and policy. Before Culloton Strategies, I was the executive vice president of a Chicago public affairs firm where I counseled health care executives, sports entrepreneurs, aviation and transportation leaders and top business executives in many other industries.Like the members of my firm, I developed my expertise in trial-by-fire in the challenging assignments of press secretary to former Illinois Governor George Ryan; and chief spokesman for Chicago's Airport System in Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's administration. From plane crashes to high-profile litigation, political battles and criminal investigations, I've counseled top executives through nearly every crisis imaginable. In 1996, I was the communications manager for the Chicago '96 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. I also served several years as a public affairs executive with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. I cut my teeth as a writer and reporter for Chicago's WMAQ All News Radio 67 from 1988-1992. In 2012, I became a visiting lecturer in Crisis Communications at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with Prof. Lynn Holley. I am proud to sit on the board of Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. I served on the boards of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and the League of Chicago Theaters. I am a member of the Chicago Club as well as the Economic Club of Chicago. dc@cullotonstrategies.comSpecialties: Strategy, crisis communications, crisis management, grassroots campaigns, media relations and speechwriting to serve clients facing business, legislative, regulatory, policy, political and operational challenges.
