Ethan Timmins Law has merged, and become part of The Law Office of Cheri Patrick, an established and well-respected Family Law practice in Durham, North Carolina.   We still offer all the great service and personal care with your Will, Trusts, and Probate needs, with the addition of experienced legal perspectives relating to current trends in Estate and Family Law needs.  I will still handle your needs and questions directly and look forward to working with you and your family.  I can still be contacted through the links on this page.
Currently, I am working with clients on Wills, Trusts, Probate and other General legal issues. I am licensed in North Carolina, Florida and Massachusetts. I am also available for criminal law consultations.
Many people are apprehensive when it comes to planning for their own passing, and that is understandable.  With me as your attorney you will find a patient and committed helper in this difficult process.  We will have conversations comfortably and privately about how to best handle your affairs.
Through nine years working with victims in criminal cases, and ten years before that working with students as a high school teacher, I have learned that every person has a different way of handling stressful situations and circumstances.  You and I will handle this stress in the way best suited for you.
I was previously with the State Attorney's Office in Miami Dade County, Florida, where I grew as an attorney over 9 years. That office is exceptional at teaching lawyers the art of litigation, team work, ethical behavior, case management, and legal writing. I began my legal career there as a misdemeanor line prosecutor, and was promoted through the juvenile divisions, eventually serving as the C and B level felony attorney, where I prosecuted 3rd and 2nd degree felonies. I was then made a Division Chief in the juvenile division, where I taught newer lawyers to prepare files, argue motions, and prosecute felonies. After two years in that position I was made an A level felony attorney prosecuting 1st degree, Punishable by Life, and Life felonies, and also aiding on murder trials with more senior attorneys. I finished my career with the office as part of a special unit that prosecutes repeat DUI offenders and responds to constitutional and evidentiary motions filed by defense counsel.
Prior to working with this office I was a night law student at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC. While I attended classes I also maintained a career as a high school literature teacher, and participated in valuable externships. I was a judicial intern in the Superior Court of DC as well as a provisional attorney with the Office of Legislative Counsel for the United States' House of Representatives. Both of these externships allowed me to hone my legal writing skills as I produced real world motions, bills, and drafts of proposed changes to laws.
