About

A Virginia native, Maryam graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice. She then obtained her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, where she was active in the Moot Court Board and Trial Advocacy Association.  She also served on the board of the Pro Bono Society as director of its Legal Intake Program, which earned her the Outstanding Community Servant Award for her service in 2011. She taught legal writing and analysis and served as a student mentor. Maryam also worked as a judicial intern in the Chambers of the Honorable Rossie D. Alston in the Court of Appeals of Virginia, where she gained insight into the appeals process of domestic relations cases.  She also interned at Legal Services of Northern Virginia, where she worked in the Family Law department, serving low-income clients.  Later, she successfully litigated cases as a student attorney in a Fairfax family law firm.
Upon graduation from law school, Maryam served as a Law CLerk to the Honorable Craig D. Johnston in the Prince William County Circuit Court. Working closely with the judge, she had broad exposure to an array of family law issues in hundreds of cases, researched a vast array of domestic relations motions and prepared and edited letter opinions in family law cases.  This provided her with unique insight into the judicial decision-making process that is invaluable to any attorney.  Maryam then proceeded to practice family law in one of the largest Fairfax family law firms. There, she participated in the negotiation, mediation and litigation of various domestic relations cases including uncontested divorce, custody, support, modification, relocation, enforcement and property division. Maryam also has experience working with victims of domestic violence and representing them in protective order and other hearings.
