Ruth is the founding member and Managing Partner. She has extensive experience representing corporate clients both as general counsel and in all phases of civil disputes before state and federal courts across the country. She concentrates her practice on matters relating to insurance claims, employment disputes, products liability, class action suits and maritime law. She assists clients through domestic and international trade and commerce issues. She also facilitates business transactions for individual clients, established corporate leads and growing businesses.
Ruth was previously a partner in the Maritime section of Jones Walker LLP where she handled a diverse range of complex matters, including the representation of clients in contract and other commercial disputes, indemnity claims, environmental litigation, civil and criminal fraud claims, antitrust and intellectual property litigation, employment litigation and products liability litigation.
In this capacity, she assisted in representation involving maritime collisions, cargo and charter party disputes, marine pollution, towage, salvage, maritime liens, marine insurance and pipeline ruptures. Ruth was also involved in the defense of personal injury claims, proceedings under the Limitation of Vessel Owner’s Liability Act, investigation and handling of various marine casualties and matter relating to the offshore oil industry.
In 2008, Ruth became general counsel for Qorvis Communications, LLC located in Washington, D.C. as well as began her own practice. As General Counsel for Qorvis Communications, Ruth participated in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs. She provided continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters.
In addition to her law practice, Ruth is an advocate for children suffering from epilepsy. She is the founder and president of the West Syndrome Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing a cure for this form of pediatric epilepsy. In 2013, her efforts lead to a $1 million endowment on behalf of the West Syndrome Foundation that established the UTHealth Center of Excellence for West Syndrome Research and the Distinguished Chair in West Syndrome Research at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
