I was going through one of the most challenging and isolating times of my life; I was being violated by my employer and had no idea what my rights were. That's when I called Amy Cramer. She took time to hear my story, and I finally felt I was not alone. She was simultaneously empathetic and frank with me. She validated my feelings and gave me a clear idea about what to do and what to expect moving forward. I hired her on the spot, and she moved just as quickly to assist me. She stayed in communication with me and responded promptly whenever there was more work to do. I could not have asked for better assistance through that trying time, and I highly recommend her services.

Amy was a great help in reviewing a contract from my previous employer. She started by asking about the concerns that I had with it. In that initial call, which was free, I went through a lot of details with her. We then setup an agreement and within two days we were on the phone again, talking through the entire contract. She addressed every concern I had and then walked through the entire contract paragraph by paragraph. She spent much more time with me that I thought she would and made sure every question I had was answered. Amy is very nice and I never got the stereotypical "lawyer" vibe from her. She knows her stuff and is a great partner to have when dealing with any issue. I'd definitely recommend her.

In addition to her vast knowledge of employee benefits law, Amy's enthusiasm for employee benefits coupled with her strong organizational skills made her the best option as leader of our organization. I couldn't imagine anyone else filling her shoes. In addition to her leadership capabilities, Amy's people skills enable her to reach out to new members and make them excited about employee benefits. It was a pleasure serving as Amy's Vice President, and I look forward to working with her again in the future out in the EB community.

As Amy Scoma's supervisor at the Office of Senator Durbin, I saw firsthand the strong work ethic that Amy possesses. Born, raised, and educated in Chicago, Amy has always dedicated herself to helping the community. No matter the setting, her concern for others has always set her apart. Beginning her career as a high school English teacher in Chicago’s inner city, she was interested in fighting for people who had no voice from a young age. Continuing in that tradition, Amy received her JD and a master of laws degree in employee benefits from The John Marshall Law School to advocate for employees and small businesses rights.During law school, Amy was the president of The John Marshall Law School’s Employee Benefits Student Association. She also traveled the country as the student representative for employee benefits law to the American Bar Association. Amy honed her court skills in law school by participating in moot court. She worked for a Cook County Circuit Court judge, Perkins Coie LLP, and U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin. Amy graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in English and Secondary Education. Amy worked as a waitress to pay for college. She gets what it's like out there. She's the down-to-earth attorney you need to guide you through through your employment and employee benefits law issues. She's the lawyer you need in your back pocket to get the job done. In Amy's spare time, she loves hanging out with her nieces, jogging, listening to country music, cross country skiing with her husband, and watching The Good Wife. Never pretentious, always friendly, Amy devotes herself to her clients.
