Mr. Whiteman has represented clients in civil lawsuits and arbitrations for over three decades. Mr. Whiteman was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Miami University cum laude in 1977. In 1980, he received his law degree from The Ohio State University, where he was elected to The Order of Barristers and served on the Law Journal staff.
Mr. Whiteman is admitted to practice before the federal and state courts in North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Whiteman holds a peer review rating of “AV” from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest available ranking in the areas of attorney competence and ethics.
Mr. Whiteman has been married to Gwen Conner Whiteman since 1978 and has two grown children. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Whiteman enjoys swimming, running, cycling, yoga, long-distance trekking, vegetarian cooking, time with family and friends, gardening and reading.
