About

It takes a survivor.
You might feel like your best effort is not enough, but I believe it should be. Many hard-working people experience financial hardship, and I have dedicated my professional life to helping them recover and make a fresh start. Over the last 27 years as a Bankruptcy Attorney, my knowledge and understanding has helped me offer the best counsel in Maryland and the District of Columbia. A cancer survivor since 2010, my battle for life renewed my understanding of hardship and made me a better bankruptcy attorney. My clients have repeatedly expressed gratitude for the respect and kindness I give them.
One client provided this feedback:
“Following a series of unforeseen circumstances, my husband and I found ourselves in a financial nightmare. We tried for years to make payment arrangements with our creditors but our debt only got worse. When our business began to fall apart as a result of the declining economy, we started looking for attorneys who could really explain bankruptcy to us. We wanted to be really well informed prior making a decision to file for bankruptcy or not.”
“I think we spoke with about thirteen attorneys prior to meeting with Jill. We knew the minute our phone rang that she was going to be serious and responsive to our needs because she called, upon our request, well after normal business hours and took carefultime to discuss whatever it was we had questions about. In the months to follow, Jill continued to be everything we expected her to be. She was compassionate, highly professional and knowledgeable. Since our filing, I have and will continue to recommend Jill to everyone I know that can benefit from her services. Thanks Jill!” N.S. (2010)
I have been through some of life’s problems, I am a five year cancer survivor. I was diagnosed without any warning. I went through 5 (five) surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. I continued my law practice through all of it. I also lost my parents at an early age. It has made me appreciate life’s hurts and the difficulties people face. I am an overcomer and I can help you become one too. I am happy to make such a positive difference in the lives of my clients.
Who I Serve
I serve clients all over the state of Maryland –from Charles, Prince Georges, Harford Counties and as close as Montgomery County, Virginia and the District of Columbia. I work with clients by telephone, fax and Skype. I don’t force you to come into my office (unless you want to) because your time is valuable to me.
Clients want to work with me for my expertise and experience. My main office is in Rockville, but I could be working from home in Leesburg, Virginia. With today’s technology I can work with you from wherever you are located. Most clients do meet with me the first time face-to face, but some choose to meet over the phone and that works too.
As I said, I live in Leesburg, Virginia with my two children and my Havanese dog, Popper. You might see her at the office, she comes to work with me frequently.
You deserve adept, informed counsel. That’s why I stay updated on the Bankruptcy field through regular attendance at the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), as well as other relevant Continuing Legal Education seminars for advanced study.
As soon as you walk in the door, I will treat you like a client, not a number. By focusing on real, actionable solutions, I can renew your hope in the future and help you move forward effectively putting your hardships in the rear-view mirror. Call me at (240) 688-9000 for a free, no-obligation assessment.
Is Bankruptcy Appropriate?
Your case may benefit from either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. The Bankruptcy Court filing automatically brings all attempts to collect on the debts you owe to a halt. Foreclosures, repossessions and even harassing phone calls stop while you are under the Court’s protection. The right to bankruptcy gives you the breathing room necessary to make a financial decision that will turn the tables and allows you to start fresh.
When your debt load is impossible for you to meet, bankruptcy allows you to discharge the debts you cannot afford to pay. As you may be aware – unsecured debts, like credit card debt, can be eliminated through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings. There are also ways for a resourceful Bankruptcy Attorney to discharge second and third mortgages, tax debt, and substantial portions of outstanding auto-loans.Your success does not end in the courtroom. A favorable Bankruptcy proceeding is only the beginning of your new financial life. To ensure your best interests will be a priority, call my office today for a free debt assessment at (240) 688-9000 or (240) 997-5775.
