About

Mikayla brings extensive problem-solving skills, thoughtful strategy, determination, and an ability to see the big picture to every case she litigates. She focuses her practice on residential landlord-tenant, personal injury, and sexual abuse litigation.
Mikayla represents tenants in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area in a wide variety of matters, including affirmative lawsuits against landlords for uninhabitable conditions, tenant harassment, wrongful eviction, and violations of local rent ordinances. Mikayla also represents individuals who have been injured because of another's carelessness. She has experience obtaining excellent results for clients who have suffered serious personal injuries in car accidents, bike accidents, truck accidents, and slip and falls due to the negligence or intentional conduct of another. Mikayla also represents survivors of sexual abuse and assault and has worked on highly publicized cases with multi-million-dollar exposure as well as cases in tandem with criminal investigations. Mikayla has a proven track record of successfully handling cases with compassion and unparalleled work ethic -- through both settlement and trial -- in order to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients.
Prior to founding Kellogg & Van Aken, Mikayla worked as a trial attorney for a prominent defense firm in San Francisco where she gained extensive experience in high stakes and contentious personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability matters. She also handled breach of contract and fraud disputes, including a matter that resulted in an eight-figure settlement for her client. From highly publicized cases involving sensitive catastrophic injuries and hundreds of plaintiffs to small property damage disputes, Mikayla handled all aspects of litigation, including investigation, case strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, expert witness discovery, trial, and appeals.
Mikayla earned her law degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law. During law school, Mikayla was awarded national membership in the Order of the Barristers, an organization recognizing individuals with excellent oral and trial advocacy skills. She was Top Oral Advocate of her Moot Court class, and she served as Competitions Chair for the Moot Court Board. Mikayla was also the Senior Interview Editor for the UC Davis Business Law Journal.
When she is not practicing law, Mikayla enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
