Amanda DeMatteis represents individuals in all aspects of civil rights litigation. Her practice is primarily devoted to employees in both state and federal courts covering a wide variety of employment issues, including wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, defamation, retaliation, and hostile work environment. She successfully tried multiple cases to verdict in employment matters across Connecticut.
In addition to her employment litigation practice, Amanda negotiates numerous cases and works with clients in employment contracts, severance negotiations, non-competition clauses and non-solicitation clauses.
Amanda also represents injured employees in workers’ compensation matters across Connecticut. She successfully helps injured workers get necessary medical treatment, weekly monetary benefits and payment for permanent injuries.
Amanda and Partner Steve Fitzgerald manage the firm’s personal injury practice, representing injured individuals in all aspects of litigation. From motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls, to dog bites and motorcycle accidents, Amanda frequently helps clients recover money for damages caused by others.
Thanks to her hard work in and out of the courtroom, Amanda has been recognized by SuperLawyers as one of its Connecticut Rising Stars in 2015, 2016 and 2017. This distinction is given to only 2.5% of Connecticut attorneys under the age of 40.
Outside of the courtroom, Amanda proudly serves as the President of the Connecticut Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), an organization devoted to attorneys who represent employees. She is an invited member of the American Inns of Court, through the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court in Hartford, Connecticut. Amanda is also an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA). Amanda was recently made a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF).
A native of Hamden, Connecticut, Amanda earned her law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she was the recipient of a Service to the Law School Award, was the Founder and President of the Labor and Employment Law Society, served as a Senator for the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Mock Trial Society, also serving on its Executive Board. Amanda received her B.S. from Sacred Heart University, where she majored in Political Science and was inducted into multiple honor societies. She served during college as a congressional intern for Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT).
