About

I worked at the LA County Dept. of Public Social Services (D.P.S.S.) for eleven (11) years after which I was awarded my 10-year pin.  I worked as an Eligibility Worker (Intake and Approved, both), Eligibility Worker Supervisor, and Administrative Assistant in the Public Inquiry and Appeals section, which is like a 'Complaint Dept'.  My job was to be familiar with the EAS/Eligibility and Assistance Standards manual, and work out solutions to problems that had been properly decided in the first place, according to the rules.  This was like doing puzzles, both on the phone and by letter correspondence.I attended Whittier-Beverly Law School at night, which was another way of doing puzzles, with Verbal Geometry.  I'd won a math contest years earlier at Whittier High School so I thought this was fun.  Going at night worked well for me, because I had only 3 classes a semester, able to concentrate on each one each class evening, either M, T, Th or M, W, Th.
I was surprised that I did well, and pleased too.  The two fields are a bit similar, in terms of seeking solutions.  As a SOCIAL WORKER, my job was to establish Eligibility and ask "How do you FEEL about that?"; as a LAWYER my job is to identify some legal remedies and ask my client "What do you want to DO about that?" ~ which is more satisfying as a "Mrs. Fix-It person".
Since 1994 I have had a continuous AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell (i.e. peer-review as being highly ethical and highest knowledge) and listed in their Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers.
