About

Divorce can be one of the most difficult experiences for families. Hayden has helped all types of people in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia successfully navigate this process by providing a personalized approach that meets the unique needs of each case. Hayden takes time to meet with his clients, understand their story and map-out a path forward. Along the way, Hayden provides guidance, advocacy and support, so clients can make well-informed and prudent decisions.
Hayden is adept at resolving all types of domestic relations disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and the Collaborative divorce process. When necessary, Hayden draws on extensive litigation experience to provide proven advocacy in the courtroom. Given his practice in and around the nation’s capital, Hayden has particular experience dealing with military divorces, international divorce, custody and support cases, high net worth clients and multi-jurisdictional custody and support matters.
Hayden has received numerous accolades from current and former clients, and has been rated “AV Preeminent,” the highest Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating for professional excellence, by other attorneys in Virginia and the District of Columbia. Hayden regularly presents to lawyers and professionals on issues such as trial preparation and advocacy, and ethical issues in divorce cases. He is also a board member of numerous bar groups, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia and the D.C. Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and is president of his local law school alumni association.
Since 1994, Hayden has lived in Virginia, with the exception of his time spent attending law school in Boston, Massachusetts. He lives in Springfield, Virginia, with his wife, whom he met in college. Hayden graduated from the University of Virginia in 2004 and Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, in 2007, where he was a member of the Law Review and the National Securities Law Moot Court Team.
Following law school Hayden clerked for two Virginia Circuit Court judges and learned first-hand how judges consider and decide cases. Since his one-year clerkship, Hayden has been exclusively engaged in private practice. He was admitted to practice law in Virginia in 2007 and the District of Columbia in 2014. He is also a member of the United States Supreme Court bar.
