For more than 25 years Ms. Fortunato’s practice has been devoted exclusively to the field of family and matrimonial law. Ms. Fortunato is fluent in virtually every aspect of Family Law, whether divorce, separation; domestic violence; child support; custody; palimony; adoption; relocation cases; pre- and post-nuptial agreements; same-sex marriage and civil unions or other domestic matters. Ms. Fortunato has represented physicians, attorneys, high-level business executives, self-employed business owners and other professionals in divorce cases involving complex business valuations, financial forensic evaluations and complex analysis of executive compensations. Ms. Fortunato is also well-versed in children’s legal issues including, divorces where there are special needs children, and sensitively provides counsel in this complex area. She prides herself on the fact that over the course of her career there has not been a day when she has walked into a courtroom feeling anything less than totally prepared and confident. She has dedicated her career exclusively to family law and her involvement extends beyond the courtroom.  Ms. Fortunato also teaches young adults about the law and provides counsel in the community related to children with special needs.
Ms. Fortunato has been designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Matrimonial Trial Attorney, a Certification achieved by only 2% of the attorneys in New Jersey. She also received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell based on her exemplary work in the field of family and matrimonial law. Ms. Fortunato was given an “AV Peerminent®” rating from her peers, which is the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating designation. She has also been recognized by Super Lawyers® for her work in family and matrimonial law. She was named as a Super Lawyer® Rising Star in 2006.
Ms. Fortunato has been a contributor to various mediums such as, New Jersey Law Journal, New Jersey Family Lawyer, Divorce Magazine, MSM, NJ.com and NJ Money Help.com.
Ms. Fortunato is on the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee. She is also currently serving a four-year term on the District Ethics Committee to which she was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 2016. Ms. Fortunato also volunteers as an Early Settlement Panelist and a Blue Ribbon Panelist.
