Originally from the West Coast, Robyn Barrett left not-so-sunny San Francisco in 2010, for a much balmier South Florida for the purpose of attending law school. Prior to embarking on this new journey, Robyn had a successful career as a multi-million dollar fundraiser, in both the political arena and for non-profit organizations. She served as the deputy finance director for distinguished San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (now Lieutenant Governor), who dominated national headlines when he began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples contrary to state laws.
Then, she served as finance director for Steve Westly's gubernatorial campaign in California, where she managed campaign donations, procured sizeable contributions, and worked with a variety of high net worth individuals throughout Silicon Valley. Subsequent to working in the political arena, she was the major giving officer for San Francisco Opera’s 55+MM budget; acquiring the largest donation to date, a seven-figure gift from a local billionaire for the opera’s endowment fund. Additionally, Robyn was responsible for establishing the partnership between the Opera and San Francisco’s Gay Pride Celebration by creating a free main stage community performance during the summer-time festival.
Throughout her law school tenure, Robyn had the privilege of interning with the State Attorney’s Office in the Sex Crimes Unit, drafting dozens of pre-trial motions and helping to secure many convictions. In 2013, she wrote an extensive memorandum of law on Williams Rule Evidence in child abuse cases, which she later adapted into an article for Nova Law Review, where she served as an editor.
Prior to joining Mayersohn Law Group, P.A., Robyn worked tirelessly as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, helping keep the community safe from a myriad of predators. While managing a heavy caseload, she has researched, drafted and litigated hundreds of pre-trail motions and brought over 50 trials to verdict.
In her free time, Robyn is an avid yogi, very active in animal rescue, and lives in Fort Lauderdale with her four rescue dogs; Olivia, Max, Abby Rose, and Coco.
